As an Army battalion surgeon in the Iraq War, Dr. Sudip Bose was chosen to treat Saddam Hussein after his capture.

Today he's a physician, a medical correspondent for major news outlets, and entrepreneur.

He's also been recognized worldwide for the techniques developed in the battlefield that are now used in emergency rooms.

He'll be in Sarasota, Fla., on March 3, 2023, to speak at the Tidewell Foundation's 14th Annual Signature Luncheon to honor veterans and their families.

The local chapter of 100 Women Who Care Greater Sarasota received a donation of $100 from each member of that group, with each member contributing $100 toward the total.

Second Heart Homes, which provides specialized care for veterans and their families, received a matching grant of $5,000.

All Star Children's Foundation, a refuge for abused and neglected children in Florida, has received a $40,000 grant from Bank of America Client Foundation to continue its trauma-informed programs for children in the state's foster care system, reports the Sarasota Herald-Tribune.

"Children receive trauma-informed treatment in a setting where they can thrive and where the course of their lives will be forever changed," says ASCF's chief program officer.
